Scarring may occur after the burn has healed, such as raised scars that are red and swollen and may feel hot or itchy to the touch; contract scars that cause tightness in the skin, muscles, and tendons, making it difficult for the patient to move the affected area; and keloid scars, which are raised, shiny bumps on the skin.
